Immoral Activity

3 women held with UNO’s car driver

In Shariatpur, local people detained a driver and three women after the driver went to a rented house in the upazila nirbahi officer’s (UNO) official car. Police later took them to the police station.

After a case was filed over alleged involvement in immoral activity, the four have been sent to the district jail.

The incident took place on Sunday noon in the Pakar Matha area of Shariatpur municipality. The detained driver is named Md Badsha (35). He drove the car of Salahuddin Ayubi, UNO of Damudya upazila.

Palong Model police station sources said Salahuddin Ayubi came to Shariatpur on Sunday to attend a meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office. After dropping him at the office, the driver, Badsha, took the official car to a rented house in the Pakar Matha area. Three women lived in that house as tenants.
Local sources said the three women had rented the house last month.

The driver, Badsha, visited it at various times. When local people grew suspicious, they went to the house and detained the driver and the three women. On receiving the news, police went and took them to the police station.

Police said various items used for drug-taking were recovered from inside the house, but no drugs were found there. Police then filed a case as plaintiff against the four over alleged involvement in immoral activity. They were shown as arrested in the case and sent to the district jail through the court on Sunday evening.

Shah Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Palong Model police station, said police went to the spot after receiving word from local people that immoral activity was going on at a rented house in the Shariatpur municipal area. He said one man and three women were detained there, and a case was filed against them on the basis of evidence.

According to upazila administration sources, there is no government driver for the Damudya UNO’s car. A driver was therefore hired locally on a daily wage basis to drive the car. Badsha Akon had been driving the UNO’s car for about eight years.

UNO Salahuddin Ayubi said he has informed the deputy commissioner. Legal action has already been taken against the driver. Badsha will no longer be kept on as a driver at the upazila parishad. The upazila parishad is also in the process of taking action against him.
