Hasan in career-best ICC ranking with hat-trick
Bangladesh did not win the Abu Dhabi Test against Afghanistan. But the drawn match will be memorable for Bangladeshi promising pacer Hasan Mahmud. He created history as the first pacer from Bangladesh to take a hat-trick in a Test.
This time, he was rewarded for that performance in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ranking as well. The pacer has returned to his career-best position. Hasan Mahmud has moved up 7 places to 38th among Test bowlers in the ICC rankings released on Wednesday. He first rose to this position after doing well against Australia last August.
Hasan Mahmud took 5 wickets in the first innings in Abu Dhabi including a hat-trick. He took another one in the second innings. Ibadot Hossain, who took 7 wickets in the same match, improved even more. He is now 67th position in the ranking, up 11 places.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz has moved up one place to 22nd with 4 wickets. Only Taijul Islam is above him among Bangladeshi bowlers. Taijul is now 18th position, three places behind. Mitchell Starc remains at the top as usual, but the gap in rating points between him and Matt Henry, who is in second place, is only four.
Litton Das has also improved in the batter’s ranking. Litton, who scored 53 and 102 in two innings against Afghanistan, has moved up three places to 29th with Indian Lokesh Rahul. Tanzid Hasan, who scored a fifty in the first innings, has moved up 10 places to 92nd.
Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Hossain Shanto have moved down one place each. Mushfiqur Rahim is now in the18th position, while Najmul Hossain Shanto is now 21st position. Mushfiqur Rahim is at the top of the batting rankings among Bangladeshis.
Afghanistan’s Rahmat Shah has moved up 13 places to 13th after scoring a century in the first innings and a fifty in the second innings against Bangladesh. His teammate Sediqullah Atal, who scored a century in the second innings, has moved up 41 places to 91st position. England’s Harry Brook is at the top of the batter as before, followed by Australia’s Steve Smith.
However, Miraz’s position remains unchanged in the all-rounder ranking. The Bangladeshi all-rounder is ranked third after South Africa’s Marco Janssen and India’s Ravindra Jadeja.
