Dhaka, Islamabad eye cooperation in e-governance
Dhaka and Pakistan have explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in civil service capacity-building and e-governance, as the two countries look to expand engagement in public administration and other sectors.
Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider discussed the potential areas of collaboration during a meeting with Md Ismail Zabihullah, Adviser to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Public Administration, in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The discussions focused on capacity-building programmes for civil servants and e-governance, alongside broader cooperation in education, trade and information and communication technology (ICT), according to a press release issued by the Pakistan High Commission, sources said.
During the meeting, Haider briefed Zabihullah on the progress and trajectory of bilateral cooperation across these sectors.
Civil service training and e-governance featured among the areas identified for potential collaboration, reflecting the scope for exchanges of knowledge and experience in public administration and digital government services.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss ways to build on existing cooperation in education, trade and ICT.
No specific agreements, programmes or implementation timelines were announced in the press release.
The meeting comes amid continuing diplomatic engagement between Bangladesh and Pakistan to explore areas of mutual interest and broaden bilateral cooperation.
