8 Bangladeshi cricketers in APL draft

Over a thousand cricketers have registered for the players’ draft of the second edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL). Among them are eight cricketers from Bangladesh.

The eight Bangladeshi cricketers, who have been included in the draft are Tanzid Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman, Towhid Hridoy and Rishad Hossain.

Alongside the Bangladeshi players, several other familiar faces are also in the draft.

Registrations include Gudakesh Motie, Evin Lewis, and Alzarri Joseph from the West Indies, Luke Wood, Reece Topley, James Vince from England, Charith Asalanka, Kamindu Mendis, and Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka.

Although the draft was initially scheduled for September 27, it was subsequently postponed.

Under the revised schedule, the draft will now take place on October 24 in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament’s second edition is set to begin on December 27.

Ownership for three of the five APL franchises has already been confirmed. Media reports indicate that the draft was delayed because the ownership of the remaining two teams has not yet been finalized.

However, there has been no official announcement regarding this matter from the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
