Tuku calls for unity against conspiracies
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has called for continued vigilance against anti-state conspiracies and stronger action against drugs, stressing national unity and coordinated security measures to maintain peace and stability ahead of Durga Puja.
Addressing the monthly meeting of the Dhaka District Law and Order Committee at the conference room of the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Monday, Tuku said no evil force could undermine the country’s peace and stability if people remained united.
“Various evil forces may attempt to hatch conspiracies, but no one can succeed going against the people,” he said, adding that Bangladeshis had historically overcome crises and conspiracies through national unity.
The remarks were made at the meeting, where the state minister attended as chief guest, according to a ministry press release. Tuku is also responsible for overseeing law enforcement and development activities in Dhaka district.
Highlighting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s vision, Tuku said, “The Prime Minister consistently advocates for national progress through unity under a common Bangladeshi identity.”
He urged all stakeholders to uphold that spirit to protect peace, communal harmony and national progress while working collectively to meet public expectations under an elected government.
Emphasising Bangladesh’s longstanding tradition of communal harmony, Tuku said people of different faiths and backgrounds celebrated their religious festivals together. He called on officials and citizens to perform their respective duties sincerely to preserve that unity.
Regarding government assistance for the upcoming Durga Puja, Tuku instructed the authorities concerned to ensure that funds were distributed strictly in accordance with government directives and guidelines.
He also expressed grave concern over the spread of drugs and called for immediate and effective action. He urged law enforcement agencies and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) to give the issue priority.
To ensure safe and smooth movement during Durga Puja, the state minister stressed coordinated efforts among the district and police administrations, upazila authorities and local public representatives.
He sought full cooperation from government departments, Puja celebration committees and citizens to ensure peaceful, safe and festive celebrations.
The meeting was chaired by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam.
Among those present were Dhaka-4 lawmaker Syed Jainul Abedin, Reserved Women’s Seat lawmaker Sanjida Islam Tuli, Superintendent of Police Shamima Parveen, representatives of various law enforcement agencies, local government officials and members of the district law and order committee.
