Afrain Zunaid new Fire Service DG

Brigadier General Sultanul Afrain Zunaid has taken charge as the new Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), replacing Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, who has returned to the Bangladesh Army.

The handover took place on Monday, following an appointment order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on September 22, 2026.

After assuming office, the new director general addressed officials and highlighted the need to strengthen public safety, fire prevention and rapid emergency response.

He also emphasised rescue operations, improved professional skills and better coordination among personnel to enhance the organisation’s operational capabilities.

The leadership change comes as Zunaid takes responsibility for the country’s fire service and civil defence agency, while his predecessor returns to the Bangladesh Army.
