Nasum, Mahedi in top ten

Two Bangladeshi bowlers have entered the top ten of the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I bowling rankings. Both are spinners. They are left-arm orthodox spinner Nasum Ahmed and right-arm off-spinner Mahedi Hasan. Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan are positioned high up the list. In the latest official rankings released prior to the October 7 update, Nasum has ranked eighth, while Mahedi has ranked 9th.

Shreyas Iyer of India, who had previously unleashed a batting storm in Lucknow, has now seen the impact of that performance reflected in the latest ICC T20I rankings. Following his maiden T20I century against the West Indies, the Indian Captain jumped 18 places to reach a career-best seventh position among batters, securing a spot in the top ten for the first time.

Shreyas Iyer’s rise has further highlighted India’s dominance, with four Indians now featuring in the top ten list of batters. Ishan Kishan holds the top spot, followed by Abhishek Sharma in second place, Shreyas Iyer in seventh, and Tilak Varma in tenth. West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford also made a significant leap, climbing 10 places to reach the 37th spot.

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan has reclaimed the top spot in the bowling rankings. Following the Asian Games cricket, a drop in Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed’s rating allowed the Afghan spinner to overtake him and once again become the number one T20I bowler. Rashid currently holds a rating of 720. Abrar Ahmed has taken second position.

Changes have also occurred in the ODI rankings. Shubman Gill has further solidified his top position following an innings of 223 runs against the West Indies. Shai Hope has also climbed to sixth place in the ODI batting rankings after a magnificent innings of 162 runs against India. In the latest official list, Gill holds a rating of 816, while Hope sits in eighth place.
