Rooppur begins Stage C ahead of power generation

Power Start-Up Stage C activities have begun at Unit-1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, marking a major step towards electricity generation, although trial power generation has not yet started.

During this stage, the reactor’s power level will be gradually increased to test the performance of various plant equipment, operational systems and safety devices.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL) on Friday.

On Thursday (October 29), the Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (BAERA) granted approval to the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) and NPCBL to commence Stage C activities.
