Khulna holds clean-up drive

As part of the nationwide “Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026”, a special clean-up drive was conducted in Khulna on Saturday to prevent the spread of dengue.

The campaign was led by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Hure Jannat, with the participation of officials and employees of the district administration, district Rover Scouts, Girl Guides, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and BD Clean.

The clean-up drive was carried out at the Khulna Collectorate premises and seven educational institutions in the city, including Nazrul Nagar Secondary Girls’ School, Haji Abdul Malek Secondary School, Government Laboratory High School, Fulbari BK Government Primary School, Unmesh Government Primary School, Khanabari Poura Government Primary School and Senpara Zahir Uddin Ganabidyapith Government Primary School. As part of the initiative, accumulated waste and garbage were removed from the school premises and surrounding areas.

while efforts were made to eliminate potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit dengue.

The campaign also focused on raising public awareness about maintaining clean surroundings as an important measure to prevent dengue.

Additional deputy commissioners of Khulna were present during the campaign.
