Mirpur Lift Accident 3 member probe panel formed

The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has formed a three-member committee to investigate Friday’s lift accident at Paikpara Government Quarters in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The ministry also expressed regret over the accident in a press release issued on Saturday.

According to the release, Joint Secretary Abul Baker Md Touhid of the ministry will head the committee.
Professor Dr Mahbub Alam of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Public Works Department Executive Engineer (E/M) Abdullah Al Mamun will serve as the other two members.

The committee has been tasked with examining whether proper rules and procedures were being followed in the maintenance and management of the lift.

It will also determine the cause of the accident and identify those responsible.
The committee has been asked to submit its report to the ministry secretary within seven working days.
