CJP’s nationwide protests today
The founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, (CJP) Abhijit Dipke, has announced nationwide protests from October 2, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Dipke made the announcement at a press conference held in Mumbai on Thursday.
“We will begin our protest in Mumbai tomorrow, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar,” Dipke said at the press conference.
The protesters are also demanding that a criminal case be filed against Kumar.
Dipke alleged that several questions have been raised over the current electoral process and said the chief election commissioner should step down to address the issues.
He said the protests would continue until Kumar resigns from his post.
Dipke further said, “We demand that the SIR process be stopped immediately, the elections be conducted on the basis of the 2025 electoral roll, and a new chief election commissioner be selected by an independent body.”
The Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls have become subjects of political debate. The planned protest in Mumbai comes amid the ongoing debate.
