No leniency will be shown to those creating anarchy: ICT Minister

Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Faqir Mahbub Anam has said that no leniency will be shown to those creating anarchy, and they will be dealt with firmly. Any attempt to destabilize the country through planned acts of violence will be resisted with the people.

The Minister made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest a mass procession and protest rally held in Dhanbari, Tangail, on Saturday afternoon (September 26), protesting attempts to destabilize the country through planned acts of violence.

The Minister said, “The Prime Minister has clearly announced that no leniency will be shown to those creating anarchy. They will be dealt with firmly.”

He further said, “Those who do not believe in democracy will be confronted with the people. The people want peace. We will take all necessary measures, together with the people, to restore peace in the country.”

The mass procession started from the Dhanbari Upazila BNP office and passed through the Dhaka-Tangail-Joydebpur-Jamalpur Highway, the Dhanbari-Tarakanda Regional Road and various roads in the local market before returning to the party office.

A protest rally was held at the party office following the procession. Dhanbari Upazila BNP President Professor M. Azizur Rahman, General Secretary Enamul Haque VP, Dhanbari Pourashava BNP President S. M. A. Sobhan and General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Swapan, among others, addressed the rally.

Leaders and activists of Dhanbari Upazila and Pourashava BNP, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Mohila Dal, Sramik Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, JASAS and other affiliated and associate organizations of BNP participated in the mass procession.
