5000 doctors to be recruited in 51st Special BCS

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the notification for the 51st Special BCS examination. Through this process, doctors will be recruited for 5,000 posts within the Health Cadre.

The notification was released on the PSC website on Thursday afternoon (September 24).

According to the notification signed by PSC Examination Controller Masuma Afrin, 4,700 Assistant Surgeons and 300 Assistant Dental Surgeons will be recruited for the BCS Health Cadre.

The required educational qualification for the Assistant Surgeon post is an MBBS or equivalent degree, while the requirement for the Assistant Dental Surgeon post is a BDS or equivalent degree. Applications for this BCS examination will open on October 1 and continue until October 25. The notification also indicates the tentative schedule for the examination.

According to the notification, there will be no preliminary examination for the 51st Special BCS. The written examination (MCQ type) is likely to be held in November.

The exam will consist of a 200-mark question paper. Regarding the exam details, the notification states that the written examination (MCQ type) for the 51st BCS may take place in November 2026. Specific dates and times will be announced in due course via the PSC website and the media.

Mark Distribution and Exam Subjects:
The MCQ-type written examination for the 51st Special BCS will carry 200 marks, while the oral examination (viva voce) will carry 100 marks.

The MCQ-type written exam will consist of a total of 200 questions. One mark is allocated for each correct answer; however, 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The written examination will include questions worth 20 marks each for Bangla, English, Bangladesh Affairs, and International Affairs; 10 marks each for Mental Ability and Mathematical Reasoning; and 100 marks for subjects relevant to the specific cadre and post.

As this is a Special BCS, the written examination will be held exclusively at centers in Dhaka. Applications for the 51st Special BCS begin on October 1; fee is Tk 200.

According to the notification issued by the PSC, online applications can be submitted from 10:00 AM on October 1 until 6:00 PM on October 25. No applications will be accepted after the stipulated deadline.

However, candidates who complete the application form and obtain a User ID by 6:00 PM on October 25 will have the opportunity to pay the fee within the subsequent 72 hours-that is, until 6:00 PM on October 28.

Candidates are also prohibited from filling out multiple application forms.
Regarding age requirements, the notification states that candidates must be between 21 and 32 years of age as of September 1, 2026. Candidates must be citizens of Bangladesh.

Any candidate who marries, or pledges to marry, a foreign national without government permission will be deemed ineligible to apply.
