Bengali folklore ‘Pran Bhomra’ in web series

The legendary ‘Pran Bhomra’ from traditional Bengali folklore is set to receive a contemporary makeover in a new web series directed by popular director Vicky Zahed. Blending romance, emotion and mystery, the series will be released as an iScreen Original.

Vicky Zahed has previously earned widespread audience appreciation with iScreen’s web series ‘Chokro’ and ‘Chokro 2’.

Continuing his collaboration with the platform, the filmmaker is now bringing a completely different narrative with ‘Pran Bhomra’, reimagining a familiar folklore concept through the lens of modern relationships, love and psychological mystery.

The announcement was made at a press conference held on Wednesday at Channel i Studio in the capital.

Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd and Channel i; Vicky Zahed; actor Tawsif Mahbub; and actress Sreyashee Sreya attended the event.

According to the makers, the series draws inspiration from ‘Pran Bhomra’ tales many grew up hearing from their grandmothers.

Described as a romantic mythological thriller, the series stars Tawsif Mahbub and Sreyashee Sreya in lead roles, alongside popular actor Intekhab Dinar and others.

Filming is scheduled to begin in October, with the series set to premiere on iScreen OTT platform after production is completed.
