Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ breaks Mariah Carey’s Billboard record

Country singer Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ has made Billboard history, becoming the longest-running No 1 

single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a single song. The track has now spent 23 weeks at No 1, surpassing Mariah Carey’s holiday classic ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’, which previously held the record with 22 weeks at the top.

However, Carey’s 1994 hit could challenge the record again during the Christmas season, when it traditionally returns to top of the chart.

Depending on how long ‘Choosin’ Texas’ remains at No 1 before December, Langley’s record could either extend further or face renewed competition.

The song recorded 21.8 million official streams this week, down 9 per cent from the previous week, while its radio airplay audience impressions rose 2 per cent to 58.3 million. It remains No 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs and Digital Songs charts and climbed to No 2 on the Radio Songs chart. –Agencies
