Tuku stresses coordination to ensure Dhaka security

Effective coordination among the district administration, police administration and elected representatives is essential to maintain law and order and accelerate development activities in Dhaka, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said on Sunday.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with MPs and officials on the overall law and order situation and development activities in Dhaka district at the conference room of the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner.

Tuku, who is also responsible for overseeing law and order and other development activities in Dhaka district, said the elected government was working to maintain a normal law and order situation and advance development activities. He called for identifying obstacles to development alongside maintaining law and order and taking initiatives to resolve them.

The state minister said improving law and order was not the sole responsibility of the administration. A safe and stable society could be built only through coordinated efforts involving political leadership, the administration, law enforcement agencies and the general public. Tuku described drugs as a major threat to society, saying people from different professions and social groups were becoming involved with them. He called on the administration, elected representatives and social organisations to play a more active role in preventing the spread of drugs.
