Totini’s confidence in good stories, not views
Tanjim Saiyara Totini is now a well-known name in the world of drama. She is working regularly, breaking herself in various roles, and with each new work, the audience’s expectations are getting bigger.
The actress has recently come into the spotlight again with Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz’s ‘Pothohara Mon’. The film is now also being shown on Amazon Prime.
However, for Totini, the definition of success is a little different at this time of popularity.
For her, the story, characters and how well the work is done is more important than the million views of a drama.
Nowadays, the number of views on YouTube has become one of the criteria for measuring the popularity of a drama.
But Totini does not consider this number to be the only measure of success.
She believes that how many viewers have watched it – along with what they have watched – is also important.
This idea is also evident in her choice of work. Totini gives the most importance to the story behind the acceptance of ‘Pothohara Mon’ by the audience.
She said, “People have easily found their own similarities with the story of the drama. Besides, Zahid Hasan’s return to fiction after a long time has increased the interest of the audience.”
Family story-based dramas are now being produced regularly. After the success of ‘Tomader Golpo’, the audience’s interest in such stories has also increased.
But Totini does not think that the audience will accept it if it is a similar story.
According to Totini, how the story is presented to the audience is the real thing. And this is where a director’s individuality is important.
In the case of Raz’s work, she feels that that unique pattern easily creates a connection with the audience.
Story and character are no less important in Totini’s own career. ‘Shalu’ in ‘Tomader Golpo’ is one of the milestones of her acting career.
Apart from this, ‘Alo’ in ‘Suhashini’, ‘Raha’ in ‘Hridoy Govire’, ‘Ira’ in ‘Shomoy Shob Jane’ and ‘Kajol’ in ‘Kajol Chokher Meye’ – these five characters are especially remembered by her.
Each character has taught her something different, given her new experience. In other words, growing as an actress through character is more valuable to her than popularity.
Along with drama, Totini has also worked on the big screen. She was seen in a small role in ‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’.
However, she is in no hurry to become a regular in movies right now. Although she received several offers, none of them attracted her enough because, when stepping into the big screen, she wants to give the most importance to the story and character.
Rather, she is waiting for a character that will further increase the expectations created for her in minds of the audience.
She wants to do work that the audience will say – ‘I was waiting to see Totini in this character.’ Her philosophy about her current career becomes clear in these words.
Popularity has kept her busy, the love of the audience has made her known; but Totini does not want to compromise with the quality of her work in pursuit of that popularity.
Views will come, pairs will be formed, work on new platforms will be done, and all of these are part of her career.
But in end, the story and character remain in minds of the audience. And this actress wants to make her place there.
