I don’t need fans who comment on my body, clothes: Priyontee Urbee

Popular small screen actress of this generation, Priyontee Urbee released a reel on Monday about her experience living in a container. The video has received a huge response since its release.

She said that the reel has been viewed by about 7 to 8 lakh people so far.

However, the actress expressed her strong discomfort with some of the comments below the reel.

Urbee clarified her position in a long Facebook post, writing, “Yesterday I uploaded a reel about my experience living in a container.

So far, about 7 to 8 lakh people have viewed the reel. I am truly grateful for the love, interest and beautiful comments from so many people.”

However, she said that some of the comments made her uncomfortable, writing, “But I am really very uncomfortable after reading some people’s comments below that reel.

I don’t know what pleasure people find in talking so much about a girl’s body, clothes and personal life.”

Criticising the comments of others about her clothes, body and social media profile, the actress said, “I want to make one thing clear – you do not have the right to decide about my body, my clothes, my Facebook profile. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it, if you don’t like it, unfollow.”

Urbee said that she has published screenshots of the ugly commenters, “I have exposed everyone one by one with screenshots of these comments.

It has occurred to me to send these screenshots to the families, wives, lovers or close people of those who are writing these things.”

Explaining the reason for this, she wrote, “Because many times people use the same language that they would not speak to their own mothers, sisters or wives, about another girl on social media.”

Priyontee Urbee also expressed concern about such behaviour for society and future generations.

In her words, “But what is the future of the girls in this country? What are we teaching our children? If we have to hear such language about a girl from many of them who study in schools and colleges, it is really scary.”

She said about her religious identity and personal life, “I am a Muslim. I believe in Allah, I pray, I fast. I am married.”

Expressing her disappointment about the situation in the country and society, she also wrote, “Sometimes I really think what sin I committed before birth that I was born in Bangladesh? I may be saying this out of anger and pain, but after reading some of the comments, I feel very helpless about my country and society.”

The actress also prayed for the ugly commenters, “I only pray to Allah that Allah may guide them and protect me from ever being like them.

Because I feel ashamed, disgusted, and very uncomfortable reading these comments.

What I post on my Facebook is my decision. If you like it, you will see it, if you don’t like it, you won’t see it. I expect this much respect.”

Addressing the followers who make nasty comments, she further said, “Honestly, I don’t need fans or followers who will follow me just to make nasty comments about my body, clothes or personal life.”

Urbee added, “It’s better for me to have no followers than to have such followers. Lots of love to you who love me, support me. Thank Allah, he didn’t give me birth with such a dirty mentality.”
