‘Moner Kotha’ Promotes Menstrual Health and Confidence Among Students
A special awareness programme titled “Moner Kotha” was held at Uttara Girls’ High School And College to provide adolescent girls with accurate menstrual-health information, reduce stigma and encourage greater confidence.
During the programme, specialist gynecologist Prof. Dr. Sharmin Siddika Rumky discussed menstrual health, hygiene, period pain, nutrition, emotional wellbeing and when medical advice may be necessary. Students also took part in an anonymous Q&A session where they could ask sensitive questions freely.
Popular actress Tanjim Saiyara Totini joined the students for an engaging conversation on self-doubt, failure, comparison, social pressure and the importance of believing in oneself.
Sofy sanitary pads were also distributed among participating students, reinforcing the message that menstrual hygiene is an important part of self-care.
The programme carried a simple message for students: Know, Speak and Move Forward—because menstruation should never limit a girl’s education, confidence or future.
