Eid-e-Miladunnabi Rally Draws Over Hundred Thousand Devotees at Dewanbag Sharif
More than one hundred thousand devotees participated in a colourful rally organized at Dewanbag Sharif in the capital to mark the 1,501st birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Calling for an end to hatred and hostility toward the observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH), Imam Professor Dr. Qudrat A Khoda Huzur, leader of Muhammadi Islam, urged people to express their love and devotion to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He made the call in his speech before the grand rally organized to celebrate the auspicious occasion. A large number of Ashiq-e-Rasul (lovers of the Prophet) from different parts of the country joined the procession.
Earlier, an Ashiq-e-Rasul (PBUH) Conference was held throughout the day at the venue. Pir Sahibs from several spiritual orders, along with representatives from around 40 countries, attended the conference.
Describing Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) as the happiest day for the devotees of the Prophet, Imam Qudrat A Khoda said the Muslim community had long been deprived of the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with joy.
He said many Muslims had traditionally believed that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born and passed away on the same day. However, Syed Mahbub-e-Khoda Dewanbagi (RA), described by speakers as one of the prominent reformers of the 20th century, challenged the belief and presented historical documents to establish that the Prophet (PBUH) passed away on 1 Rabi’ al-Awwal and was born on 12 Rabi’ al-Awwal.
As a result, Muslims now have the opportunity to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Prophet (PBUH) with joy and devotion, Imam Qudrat A Khoda said.
Speakers at the conference said Hazrat Dewanbagi (RA) had introduced more than a hundred reforms in Islamic thought and practice. They also claimed that, following his longstanding efforts, the Government of Bangladesh began observing Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) at the state level.
Prominent Islamic scholars and distinguished personalities from different professions addressed the conference, including Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Syed Md. Ziaul Karim, Justice Md. Faruk (M. Faruk), Nazrul researcher and former Additional Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh Zakir Hossain, columnist and researcher Dr. Muhammad Nasir Uddin Sohel, former Vice-Principal of National Law College Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Mia, and Hazratul Allama Muhaddis Emran Hossain Mazhari.
The conference concluded with calls for greater devotion to the teachings and ideals of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as well as harmony, spiritual purification and humanity in society.
