14 pink buses get e-ticketing
Women passengers travelling on 14 BRTC ‘Pink Buses’ in Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura can now buy e-tickets through POS machines under a newly introduced digital ticketing system.
Shohoz Limited introduced the service on the women-only buses, with the system formally launched recently at an event at the Tejgaon BRTC Bus Depot, according to a press release issued on Sunday.
The POS-based system is intended to make ticketing on the women-only buses more organised and transparent, allowing passengers to purchase e-tickets directly on board.
As the e-ticketing partner, Shohoz Limited is providing the technology and implementation support required to operate the system.
Shohoz teams were deployed at relevant BRTC depots to help ensure a smooth transition. They provided conductors with hands-on training on operating POS machines, issuing e-tickets and following other necessary ticketing procedures.
The service is now available on 14 women-only buses operating across Dhaka, Chattogram and Bogura.
Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Shaikh Rabiul Alam, MP, attended the launch event as the chief guest.
State Minister Habibur Rashid, Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque and Women and Children Affairs Secretary Yasmeen Parveen attended as special guests.
BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Molla chaired the event, which was also attended by senior BRTC officials.
The introduction of POS-based e-ticketing brings the women-only BRTC service under a technology-enabled ticketing system while providing conductors with digital tools for issuing passenger tickets.
