Dengue death toll rises to 76

Two more people died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s dengue death toll this year to 76.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday, 671 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period.
With the latest figures, a total of 26,272 dengue patients have been hospitalised across Bangladesh since the beginning of this year.
Meanwhile, 627 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 24,374.
Dhaka’s two city corporations recorded the highest number of new admissions, with 249 patients, followed by Khulna with 133, Rajshahi 92, Chattogram 83, Barishal 70, Mymensingh 35, Rangpur six and Sylhet three.
Last year, Bangladesh recorded 413 dengue-related deaths.
