3-day Nat’l Fisheries prog begins in Jashore

JASHORE: District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon takes part in a colourful rally in the district on Sunday marking the National Fisheries Fortnight 2026.

A three-day long (from16 August to 18 August) National Fisheries programme is being celebrated in Jashore with celebrations under the theme, “A self-reliant country in silver fisheries, Bangladesh first.”

The programmes included a rally, fish fry release, discussion meeting and an award ceremony honouring successful fish farmers and entrepreneurs at the district level.

The day was officially inaugurated at the District Collectorate premises on Sunday. District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, the chief guest, inaugurated the programme by releasing balloons and festoons.

Following the inauguration, a colourful rally started from the premises, paraded the main roads of the city and ended at the Municipal Park. Later, the guests released fish fry of different species into the pond at the park.
