Current nets seized in Chatmohar
The Upazila Fisheries Department has continued its campaign against illegal China Duari and banned current nets in Chatmohar, Pabna.
The concerned said that this campaign is being conducted to protect the fish resources in the Chalanbil region including Chatmohar.
In the meantime, the Upazila Fisheries Department, with the cooperation of the Upazila administration, has conducted several campaigns and seized a large number of China Duari and current nets.
China Duari and current nets were seized in campaigns in Dikshibil, Afrar Bil, Chawaldah Watershed, Nabin Bil, Dodaria Bil, Kata Gang and Gumani Rivers of the upazila. In addition, nets were seized in a campaign in the Chatmohar Rail Bazar Hat and banned nets.
Last Monday (August 10), China Duari nets worth more than one and a half lakh taka were seized in a campaign in Dodaria Bil of the upazila. Later, the seized nets were publicly burned.
To ensure the protection and conservation of fish, Upazila Fisheries Department initiated a drive in the Dodaria Beel of the upazila from afternoon to evening.
Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Abdul Matin and police members were present at the time.
