Taskin has ‘plan’ to stop Heads

Bangladesh's pacer Taskin Ahmed poses during a media opportunity ahead of the Test series against Australia at Darwin Waterfront in Darwin, Australia on Monday.

Australia’s batting lineup has world-class batting line-up. Up front is Travis Head; who has the ability to destroy any bowling attack in an instant. On top of that, a two-Test series on Australian soil.

The challenge is huge for Bangladesh. However, Taskin Ahmed is not thinking of doing anything extra about these.

This main weapon of Bangladesh’s pace attack wants to confront Australian batters with confidence in his skills.

The first Test of the two-Test match series will start at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin on August 13.

Earlier, while talking to the media in Darwin on Monday, Taskin said, “There is no doubt, he (Travis Head) is one of the best batters in the world. But in the end, it is a game of bat and ball.

I will follow my process as I have been doing for the last few years. It will not be easy, but I cannot do anything more than this. I will stick to my process and let’s see what happens.”

Bangladesh will have a different plan for each of Australia’s batters. However, how effective that plan will ultimately be will depend on the conditions, the pitch’s behaviour and its implementation on the field.

Taskin Ahmed said, “Of course, we will come up with a plan for each batter. But that will depend on the conditions and how the pitch is acting.

Everything will depend on the implementation of the plan and how we are able to use it on the field. If we want to compete with them, we will also have to play very good cricket.”

Bangladesh’s pace attack is weak in the first Test. Nahid Rana is unable to play due to injury, and Shoriful Islam is also not in the team.

Taskin Ahmed feels that Bangladesh will suffer especially from Nahid Rana’s absence. Nahid Rana has become one of Bangladesh’s biggest pace threats in recent times.

Taskin Ahmed said, “We will really miss them, especially Nahid Rana. He is a big threat for the batters of world cricket at the moment. Unfortunately, he is injured.”
