2 held with counterfeit currency-making equipment

Two people were arrested with equipment allegedly used to produce counterfeit foreign currency during a raid in Chapainawabganj town on Saturday night.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-5) conducted the raid at a three-storey house in the Arambagh-Balubagan area around midnight and arrested the duo. Rab personnel also seized 25 bundles of counterfeit currency notes of different countries and other equipment from the house.

Additional Superintendent of Police Iftekhar Hossain Mahmud, in-charge of the Rab-5 Chapainawabganj Camp, confirmed the arrests.

The arrested individuals were identified as Tasikul Islam, son of Monirul Islam of Monakasha area in Shibganj Upazila, and Shamim Ali, son of Saidur Rahman of Mandimor area in Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon.
