Shapla Chattar case to see justice

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said justice will be served in the Shapla Chattar massacre case, stating that the judicial process will now move forward following the investigation and submission of the charge sheet.

He made the remarks on Sunday afternoon at a discussion meeting organised at Al Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari, Chattogram, in response to Hefazat-e-Islam’s demand for justice over the Shapla Chattar massacre. “During the interim government’s tenure, I said-you just file the case, I’ll take care of the rest. Since then, you have provided information, the investigation has been carried out, the charge sheet has been filed, and now justice will also be served,” Salahuddin Ahmed said.

He also said no anti-Islamic law would be enacted in the country. The government, he added, would continue working to ensure that devout Muslims, as well as people from other communities, receive their rights.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Muhibullah Babunagari and Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury were present at the discussion meeting.
