DMP, RAB tighten security

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have strengthened security measures across the capital and the country ahead of the observance of July Mass Uprising Day 2026 on Wednesday.

DMP has increased police pickets, checkpoints and search operations at key entry points to Dhaka, while plainclothes personnel from the Detective Branch (DB) and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit have been deployed at important locations. The capital’s programme venues and the July Memorial Monument area have been brought under special security arrangements with CCTV and drone surveillance. SWAT, Bomb Disposal Unit and Dog Squad teams will also conduct special operations at crowded locations.

RAB said it has enhanced intelligence surveillance and coordinated with law enforcement agencies, intelligence bodies and local administrations to ensure peaceful observance of the day. The force has prepared area-based security plans, strengthened monitoring at venues and procession routes, and intensified cyber patrols to counter rumours and misinformation.

Both agencies said additional personnel have been deployed and preventive measures have been taken to prevent sabotage, maintain law and order and ensure public safety during the nationwide programmes.
