School meal prog to reach all govt primary schools
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Sunday said the government will expand the ‘School Meal’ programme to all government primary schools across the country in phases to ensure nutritious food for students.
“The government’s primary objective is to ensure nutrition for every primary school student,” he said during a courtesy meeting with World Food Programme (WFP) Bangladesh Country Director and Representative Coco H. Ushiyama at his office in the Secretariat. During the meeting, the two sides discussed expanding the school meal initiative, ensuring nutritious food for students, introducing cooked hot meals on a pilot basis in the future, improving programme monitoring and strengthening digital management systems.
Hajjaj said transparency, accountability and technology-based monitoring are essential for the effective implementation of the School Meal programme.
