‘Labeling BNP fascism party, lack of knowledge’

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated, “Those who label the BNP a party of fascism is lack of their understanding.”

At the same time, he urged the Jamaat-e-Islami chief to review the party’s constitution and questioned whether the party is democratic at all.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Monday (July 27) in Rangpur, following the inauguration of the Rural Development Academy during his two-day visit.

Mirza Fakhrul stated that the presidential election would be held on schedule, in accordance with the Constitution.

The party’s Standing Committee would make the final decision regarding the nomination for the presidency.

Regarding the local government elections, he stated that they might take place towards the end of this year or early next year, noting that the Election Commission would decide on candidate eligibility.

At the event, he also highlighted the need to build a commercial agricultural economy through interest-free loans and investments in the agricultural sector.

Later, he visited the Rural Development Fair held at the Rangpur Town Hall grounds. Subsequently, he attended a program at the District Shilpakala Academy featuring the inauguration of the BRDB divisional office, the distribution of saplings to beneficiaries, the disbursement of loans to small entrepreneurs, and the distribution of incentive cheques to adolescent girls.

Mohammad Shawkat Rashid Chowdhury, Secretary of the Rural Development Division, presided over the event.

Additionally, Divisional Commissioner Shahidul Islam, DIG Aminul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan, and Superintendent of Police Mozammel Haque, along with other concerned officials, were present.
