BD’s Pramod joins Rosatom’s ‘Impact Team 2050’
Bangladeshi young technology professional Pramod Chandra Baidya was selected as a member of the second International Youth Advisory Board of Rosatom’s “Impact Team 2050.”
He serves as a technology officer at the Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited (NPCBL).
According to a press release issued by Rosatom’s Media Wing, members of the first Impact Team 2050 board recently met with Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and introduced their successors during an official meeting.
The newly formed board comprises 13 young professionals from Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Hungary, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Rwanda, Serbia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uzbekistan.
The members include young researchers, nuclear industry professionals, and leaders of youth organisations.
The press release further stated that the second board was selected through a highly competitive process. A total of 13 members were chosen from 207 applicants representing 58 countries worldwide. Pramod Chandra Baidya was selected to represent Bangladesh.
During their first meeting with Rosatom’s senior leadership, the new board members presented their action plan for the coming months.
They plan to organise national youth dialogues to explore why many talented young people continue to choose alternative career paths despite the nuclear industry’s growing reputation as a clean, innovative, and high-tech sector.
The outcomes of these dialogues will be presented at the COP31 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Antalya, Türkiye, where the board will hold its second meeting with Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev. The members will also contribute to developing the youth programme for Nuclear Day at COP31 and visit the construction site of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Türkiye.
Speaking on the occasion, Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom, said: “The new Impact Team 2050 Board has an important role to play in shaping the international youth dialogue on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
