‘Martyrs’ unfinished mission must be fulfilled ‘
“History must always remain before us, and its spirit must live in our hearts. We should remember that a revolution is not something that ends in a day or two.
The July Revolution has not come to an end. Rather, the martyrs who sacrificed their fresh blood for this land had dreams, goals, and objectives that are still far from being achieved. If we have even the slightest sense of gratitude for their sacrifice, it is our moral duty to complete their unfinished mission.
We do not have time to worry about who stands with us or against us, who will remain loyal to the blood of the martyrs and who will betray it after assuming power. God willing, we will only celebrate after completing the martyrs’ unfinished mission”, said Mufti Ali Hasan Usama, a distinguished Islamic scholar, thinker, author, and researcher, and a Rukon of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
He made these remarks while addressing a discussion titled “Expectations of the July Revolution and the Responsibilities of Islamic Scholars” as the chief guest at a party centre in Mymensingh city on Saturday.
Presided over by Maulana Solaiman Ahsan, President of the Ulama Department of Mymensingh Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami, and moderated by Secretary Mufti Muhammad Shahidullah.
Mufti Usama further said the foremost reason behind the success of the July movement was national unity that transcended political affiliations. He stressed that the people of Bangladesh must once again build broad-based unity against secular, anti-Islamic, atheistic, and other destructive forces if they wish to achieve lasting success.
He further stated that Islamic scholars should remain closely connected with the public and actively address people’s everyday concerns, including inflation, utility prices, and other civic issues. According to him, if religious leaders stand firmly beside the people on such matters, the nation will eventually entrust them with political leadership as well.
Addressing the event as chief guest, Member of Parliament for Sherpur-1, Hafez Maulana Rashedul Islam, said differences of opinion should never be allowed to turn into hostility.
He urged all Islamic scholars and like-minded groups to remain united in facing future challenges and safeguarding the aspirations of the July movement. He also called for collective efforts to uphold the ideals of the movement and remain prepared for any future struggle.
