‘Students should excel in sports alongside academics’
Education and, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Friday said the government wants to develop country’s students into individuals who excel not only in academics but also in sports.
He made the remarks while addressing a teachers’ assembly and views-exchange meeting as the chief guest at the Monoharpur High School premises in Kachua, Chandpur.
The minister said the government wants students to become proficient in sports and other co-curricular activities alongside their academic studies.
To this end, sports and culture will be included in the Class IV curriculum, he added.
He also said initiatives have been taken to introduce “Learning with Happiness” and technical education subjects in Class VI.
He further said the younger generation must be equipped with moral education alongside institutional education, adding that they should be nurtured through family and religious values.
The minister said the government wants to develop Kachua as a model in the field of education.
Presided over by President of Monoharpur High School Khorshed Alam Mannan, the function was attended, among others, by Chairman of the Cumilla Education Board Professor Md. Ahsan Parvez, Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Ziaur Rahman, Chandpur Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman, Kachua Upazila BNP President Md. Khairul Abedin Mia and Kachua Upazila BNP General Secretary Masud Elahi Subhas as special guests.
