2 killed in Kishoreganj road crashes

A Primary school student and a microbus driver were killed and seven others injured in separate road accidents in Kishoreganj on Friday.

Two separate accidents occurred on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj road at around 11am on Friday in the Chilakara area of Pakundia upazila and Gaital circuit house area of Kishoreganj town.

According to police and local sources, Tuhin, a 10-year-old student in Janata Government Primary School, was killed when a cement-laden truck hit him on Friday morning Gaital area in the town.

He died before locals could rescue him and take him to the hospital in critical condition, police said. The deceased Tuhin’s father is a member of the Bangladesh Police.

On the other hand, microbus driver Mostafizur Rahman was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in the area adjacent to Chilakara Moulvibari in Pakundia upazila on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj road at around 11 am. He is a resident of Kafrul area of Dhaka’s Mirpur.

It is learned that a bus of Ananya Classic Paribahan leaving from Kishoreganj collided with a microbus leaving from Dhaka for Nikli Haor, causing both vehicles to fall into a ditch on the side of the road.

The micro driver was killed on the spot. Seven others were injured in the incident.

Pakundia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arifur Rahman confirmed the incident and, also said that further legal action is under process in the incident”
