Bangladesh Men’s & Women’s Cricket teams to play directly in Asian Games

The 2026 Asian Games will be held in Nagoya, Japan in September to October. Where Bangladesh Men’s Cricket team and Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team have got the opportunity to play in the direct knockout stages in the Cricket Competitions of Asian Games.

According to the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have secured a place in the main stage without playing the first round.

The draw for the Men’s and Women’s Cricket events were held on Thursday. According to the draw, a total of 10 teams in the Men’s Division will participate in the title fight.

Of them, four teams will play in the direct knockout, while the remaining six teams will have to compete for a place in the main stage in the first round.

In the first round of the Asian Games, Afghanistan, Japan and Nepal are in Group ‘A’. Hong Kong, Malaysia and Oman are in Group ‘B’. The top two teams from the two groups will advance to the knockout stage and face Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the quarterfinals.

The Men’s Cricket Competition will be held from September 24 to October 1 with the participation of 10 teams in this continental competition. The matches will be in the T20 format.

On the other hand, the Women’s Cricket event will feature eight teams, with the main event starting with the quarter-finals.

The Women’s Cricket Competition will run from September 17 to 22. India will face Japan, Bangladesh will face China, Sri Lanka will face Malaysia and Pakistan will play Thailand.
