‘I will return to acting if I get an important role’
Mehbooba Mahnoor Chandni was once a regular face in acting and dancing. Although she is not seen much on the small screen now, she was seen to participate as a guest in various television channels’ game shows on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup.
In a recent interview, the actress talked about her return to acting, love for Argentina, viral Facebook
status and dance practice.
Chandni said that she has been a supporter of Argentina since childhood. She developed love for the team after watching the legendary Diego Maradona’s play.
The actress also said that she is invited to game shows organised with stars in every World Cup. Referring to Argentina’s match against England in the World Cup, Chandni said that she was ‘breathless’ towards the end of the match. She was relieved when Argentina, which was behind for 85 minutes, regained the equaliser at the last moment and then won.
Chandni also talked about a recent Facebook status about animals that went viral. She said that the post was not directed at anyone. She commented on the humanity of people.
According to her, people can learn to bite from snakes or cunning from foxes, but they cannot learn the loyalty of dogs. The actress also clearly expressed her desire to return to acting.
Chandni said, “I have to be called! I always want to work. Now, like newbies, I can’t just sit in production houses and take work just by telling people. I have been saying for a long time that the characters of uncles, uncles, aunts, and grandfathers should be given importance in the story. No one has taken it into account for so long. Now I see that a drama is being made centered on Deepa Khandakar.
One of the characters of aunts she played is now on people’s lips. Now the audience is watching family dramas a lot. I think I will get a call soon. Every age has its own beauty. If I am called to play the role of elder sister or sister-in-law, I will stand in front of the camera. There is only one condition – the character must be important.”
Chandni also talked about her drama ‘Dui Biye’, which was recently released on YouTube.
She said that the drama was made before Corona and its title was ‘Shunyotai Purnota’. The drama was also discussed during its first broadcast.
After a long time, it was released on YouTube under a new title and received about 1 million views in a week, which she thinks is positive for an old drama.
Regarding dance practice, Chandni said that currently there are very few dance shows on television and government sponsorship is also limited. Therefore, she is teaching dance at a school and also teaches dance to children at home.
