CCC Mayor unveils ‘Our Chattogram’ app

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) launched its one-stop citizen service mobile and web application, ‘Our Chittagong’, aiming to make the city smarter, more technology-driven and accountable by bringing a wide range of civic services onto a single digital platform on Saturday.

CCC Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain officially inaugurated the app as the chief guest at a programme held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Chattogram Centre auditorium.

The application has been developed with funding from Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, while Vento Tech was responsible for its technical development.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain described the launch as a landmark achievement in the history of the Chattogram City Corporation.

“We are living in a technology-driven era where digital citizen services are no longer a luxury but a necessity.

The ‘Our Chittagong’ app has been launched to meet that demand. It is not just an application; it is a digital bridge between the citizens and the City Corporation,” he said.

The mayor said the city’s goal is to build a smart, clean, transparent and accountable Chattogram.

Through the app, citizens can report civic problems in 10 categories-including damaged roads, waterlogging, mosquito infestation, waste management, street lights and sewerage-by uploading photographs along with their location directly from their mobile phones.

He said users would also be able to track the status of their complaints in real time, from submission to resolution.

In addition to complaint management, the app will provide access to various civic services, including emergency services, direct communication with the mayor, holding tax information and trade licence services, all through a single platform.

The mayor added that the app’s officer dashboard, ward-based heat maps and automated ticketing system would help the city corporation identify problem areas quickly and respond more efficiently.

“This will not only improve administrative efficiency but also strengthen our accountability to the citizens,” he said.

Emphasising public participation, Dr. Shahadat said no city could be made beautiful by a single institution alone.

“The ‘Our Chittagong’ app has opened a new avenue for citizen participation. I urge every resident of Chattogram to download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and actively contribute to keeping the city clean, beautiful and liveable,” he said.

He added that the city corporation aims to provide services digitally so that citizens no longer need to visit its offices for routine services.

The mayor also noted that the state-of-the-art digital platform was developed without using CCC’s own funds, as the entire project was financed through Eastern Bank Limited’s CSR programme.

Among those present at the inauguration were CCC Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Mohammad Ashraful Amin, Chattogram WASA Managing Director Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam, DIG of Chattogram Range Md. Moniruzzaman, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, politician Abul Hashem Bakkar, heads of various CCC departments, senior officials of government and non-government organisations, political leaders, technology professionals and members of civil society.
