Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury will act in the prequel of the Bengali film ‘Chaalchitro’. He confirmed the news yesterday.
The actor is currently busy with work in both Bangladesh and West Bengal. He has recently finished shooting for two other Tollywood films, ‘Shekor’ and ‘Azadi’. ‘Chaalchitro’ was directed by Pratim D Gupta. It was released in cinemas in 2024.
The director had announced a follow-up titled ‘Chaalchitro 2’ soon after the first film’s release. Chanchal will play the younger version of Bhuban.
The character is violent, but his past holds a psychological struggle that shaped him into a criminal.
The story will explore this background.
The original story revolved around a 12-year-old case involving a serial killer named Bhuban, played by Bratya Basu.
The director once said the new instalment would work as both a prequel and a sequel. However, the plan has since changed.
The new script now focuses only on the serial killer’s backstory. It will also not be a film. Instead, it will be released as a series on an OTT platform.
