22 CSA cases filed, 61 held in Nilphamari

Nilphamari district police arrested 61 individuals from January to June this year while a total of 22 cases were filed under the Cyber Security Act (CSA).

They have intensified their crackdown on cyber-related crimes, including visa fraud, online casinos, and Thai lottery gambling.

Investigations are ongoing against nearly 200 unidentified suspects.The information was confirmed on Tuesday (July 14) by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) ABM Faizul Islam.

He said the cases were filed following a series of operations conducted in Nilphamari Sadar, Saidpur, and Kishoreganj upazilas.

A total of 81 named accused have been charged in connection with online visa scams, illegal online casino operations, and Thai lottery schemes that allegedly defrauded members of the public.

Police have arrested suspects from different locations and are continuing investigations to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal networks.

ABM Faizul Islam said, “Under the overall guidance of Superintendent of Police Md. Farhad Hossain Khan, Nilphamari District Police are maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, gambling, online casinos, visa fraud, and all forms of cybercrime. Although eliminating such crimes completely is challenging, we will continue our intelligence-led operations and strict enforcement to keep them under control.”

He also urged the public to remain vigilant against online fraud, illegal online casinos, and Thai lottery scams. He added that the district police will continue awareness campaigns alongside strict law enforcement efforts.
