Ellen Burstyn to get lifetime award at Venice Int’l Film Fest

Ellen Burstyn, one of the greatest actresses of Hollywood’s golden age, has won an Oscar. Now, she is about to receive another prestigious international award.

At the upcoming 83rd Venice International Film Festival, the legendary actress will be awarded the ‘Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement’ in recognition of her long and illustrious career.

The festival’s organising committee officially announced the move on Tuesday.

The prestigious world film festival will be held in Venice, Italy, from September 2 to 12. Venice Film Festival artistic director Alberto Barbera praised Ellen, saying she is an actress who brings a rare intensity and extreme truth to the screen.

She has immortalised on celluloid the conflicts, struggles and transformations of contemporary women’s lives with her impeccable performance.
