Bank Asia PLC hands over solar-powered irrigation project

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Bank Asia PLC has established another modern two-tier solar-powered irrigation project in Bogra, aimed at supporting marginal farmers by ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for agriculture.

The project has been implemented with the technical support of the Rural Development Academy (RDA) Bogra.

The project was officially handed over to the local Farmers’ Association on Sunday.

Md Abdul Majid Pramanik, director general (in-charge) of RDA, Bogra, was chief guest, and Tahmidur Rashid, senior executive vice president of Bank Asia, attended the program as special guest.

Ferdous Khan, director of RDA, Bogra, presided over the program. Members of the Farmers’ Association and other distinguished guests attended the event.

The solar-powered irrigation system is capable of extracting and supplying 50,000 liters of water per hour, significantly enhancing irrigation facilities for local farmers while also ensuring access to clean water for household use.

The environmentally friendly project is expected to improve agricultural productivity, reduce irrigation costs and promote sustainable farming practices in the area.

Earlier, in November 2025, Bank Asia handed over a similar solar-powered irrigation project to another Farmers’ Association in Rangpur.

With the addition of the Bogra project, the bank continues to demonstrate its commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture, empowering rural communities and contributing to the country’s socioeconomic development through impactful CSR initiatives.
