



The counting of money and other valuable assets deposited in the donation box of the holy shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet in 18 days has been completed.
The donation box was opened and the money and assets were counted with transparency since Saturday morning in the presence of people from different classes and professions, including media.
After the counting, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Quiyum Chowdhury said that a total of 47 lakh 10 thousand 153 taka was received in Bangladeshi currency from the donation box.
In addition, foreign currencies, gold and silver from different countries were also found.
He said that all the counted money will be deposited in a bank account opened in the name of the Deputy Commissioner.
Thanking the people of Sylhet for their trust the SCC administrator said, the next meeting of the committee formed to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Shrine, Dargah, Mosque and Madrasa will be held next Thursday.
In light of the decision of that meeting, we will finalise a policy for the financial management and operation of these institutions within a month.
The foreign currencies found in the count include 135 Saudi riyals, 20 US dollars, 2,532 Indian rupees, 22 Qatari dirhams, 6 Malaysian ringgits, 20 Hong Kong dollars, 20 European Union euros, 1.450 Omani dinars, 54.20 United Arab Emirates dirhams, 4,000 Indonesian rupiahs, 60 Pakistani rupees and 10 Singapore dollars.
In addition, 9 grams of gold, 10 grams of gold-like objects and 39.4 grams of silver were found in the donation box.
On the other hand, a cow and 65 goats were found. Of these, 40 cows were cooked and fed. 25 goats were sold, with a selling price of 1 lakh 15 thousand 403 taka.
