On August 4, 2021, RAB conducted a raid that lasted about four hours and arrested Dhallywood actress Pori Moni.
It was reported that various types of drugs were found in her residence. Pori Moni was later arrested in a drug case. She had to spend about a month in jail during that time.
The case against her is still ongoing. However, Pori has never spoken directly about the arrest.
Recently, in a live talk show, former RAB intelligence chief Lt Col (retd) Khairul Islam, who conducted the operation against Pori Moni, said that there was no logical reason to arrest her.
He claimed that the operation to arrest Pori Moni was conducted on the orders of the then RAB Director General (DG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.
He had raised questions about this at the time.
After Khairul Islam’s statement, Pori Moni posted a long post on social media at midnight last Friday, thanking him.
She also mentioned that her personal, social and professional life has been severely damaged due to that incident.
At the same time, she asked the state whether it is possible to return the lost respect, mental peace and those times of life.
Pori Moni wrote, “Former RAB Intelligence Chief Lt Col (Retd) Khairul Islam, although late, you have publicly admitted some truths, through which the people of the country came to know that on August 4, 2021, after a long-term raid on my house in Banani, I was arrested unjustly, completely illegally and for reasons related to the interests of a special group on the orders of the then RAB Chief and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.
I was shown arrested in a false and fabricated case and given a 7-day remand and kept in jail for 20 consecutive days.
No one in the world except Allah and me can fully understand how much the experience of that time has damaged and disrupted my life.”
Asking questions to the state, Pori Moni wrote, “Maybe this time the honourable court will acquit me from the fabricated state case.
But is it possible to get back those days? Will I ever get back the life, the honour, the peace of mind that I have lost?
Will the state take responsibility for the false, confusing, and controversial ideas that have been created about me in people’s minds? If I ask the state for answers to these questions, can it give them?”
Noting that the controversy surrounding the arrest still rages, Pori wrote, “The impact of an incident has changed my life in a way that I still have to bear the responsibility for.
I want no innocent person to be a victim of such injustice in the future. May people’s trust in every institution of the state remain unwavering.”
