




Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) organised an Innovative Idea Exhibition, Award Ceremony and Workshop on Tuesday to promote the digitalization and automation of administrative services and enhance the quality of service delivery across the university.
The programme was held at the conference room of the university’s administrative building.KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mashud attended the event as the chief guest, while Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Awlad Hossain, convener of the university’s Innovation Team, chaired the programme. Prof. Dr. Kazi Hamidul Bari of the Civil Engineering Department presented the keynote paper.
Teachers, officials, and students from different departments and offices showcased innovative ideas aimed at improving administrative efficiency, digital governance, and institutional services. The best proposals were recognized with awards.
Addressing the programme, the vice-chancellor said innovation is essential for keeping a university aligned with the demands of the time.
“Innovation enables a university to keep pace with changing needs. A smart KUET will be built through technology-driven administration, efficient service delivery, and creative thinking. Every member of the university community should contribute new ideas and innovative initiatives from their respective positions,” he said.
He added that fostering an innovation-driven culture is essential to establishing KUET as a globally recognised institution for higher education and research.
“The combined efforts of teachers, officials, employees, and students will make both academic and administrative activities more dynamic. I congratulate all participants, especially the award winners, and thank everyone involved in organizing the event. I hope such creative initiatives will continue in the future,” he added.
In the teachers’ and officials’ category, Sharfan Upal, Assistant Professor of the Urban and Regional Planning Department, was named Best Innovator.
In the student category, Md Akhlakul Islam Fahim of the Textile Engineering Department secured first place. Miftahul Islam Tasin of the Mechanical Engineering Department became the first runner-up, while Md Ragib Abid of the Industrial Engineering and Management Department and Rafiquzzaman Robin of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department were jointly declared second runners-up.
The innovative ideas were evaluated by Prof. Dr. Kazi Hamidul Bari, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ilias Inam of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Deans, department heads, institute directors, hall provosts, chairpersons, teachers, officials, employees, and students attended the programme.
The organisers expressed optimism that similar initiatives would continue to strengthen the culture of innovation, expand the use of technology in university administration, and further improve service delivery at KUET.
