The Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael’ has become the highest-grossing biographical film in cinema history, surpassing Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning ‘Oppenheimer’ at the global box office.
According to distributor Lionsgate, the film has earned an estimated $977 million worldwide since its theatrical release in April, edging past ‘Oppenheimer’, which concluded its box office run with approximately $975 million.
Starring Jaafar Jackson as the late King of Pop, ‘Michael’ also set a new benchmark for musical biopics during its opening weekend.
