ACC Commissioner search committee formed

The government has initiated the process of filling three vacant positions in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), forming a five-member search committee to identify suitable candidates for appointment as commissioners.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Monday announcing the formation of the committee, which has been tasked with recommending qualified individuals for the key positions in the country’s principal anti-graft body.

According to the notification, Justice Rezaul Haque of the Appellate Division will chair the committee. The body has been constituted under Section 7 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 for the purpose of selecting candidates for appointment as ACC commissioners.

Other members of the committee are Justice Razik Al Jalil, the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh, the Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), and the Cabinet Secretary.

The committee will prepare a shortlist by recommending two candidates for each of the three vacant commissioner posts. The President will subsequently appoint the commissioners from among the recommended candidates.

The Cabinet Division will provide the committee with the necessary secretarial assistance to carry out its work.

The vacancies emerged after ACC Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen and Commissioners Mia Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (Retd.) Hafiz Ahsan Farid simultaneously submitted their resignation letters on March 3, leaving three commissioner positions vacant in the commission.
