Jaya Ahsan began shooting for ‘Ajo Ardhangini’ in June last year. A year later, director Kaushik Ganguly announced that the film is now just a month away from its release. ‘Ajo Ardhangini’ will hit theatres across West Bengal on July 10.
The original film, ‘Ardhangini’, was released in 2023. The lead roles were played by Kaushik Sen, Churni Ganguly, and Jaya Ahsan. The story revolved around the illness of Suman (Kaushik Sen), which brought together his former wife Shubhra (Churni Ganguly) and his current wife Meghna (Jaya Ahsan), leading to emotional tensions and conflicts. The film was highly praised by both audiences and critics. Following its success, a sequel has now been made.
Director Kaushik Ganguly said that the new story begins about two years after the events of the first film. Suman, Shubhra, and Meghna find themselves face to face once again at a wedding.
Alongside Jaya Ahsan, Kaushik Sen and Churni Ganguly reprise their roles, while Indrashish Roy joins the cast in this new installment.
Kaushik Ganguly said, “Many untold aspects of these three characters will come to light this time. Meghna’s daughter, Tikli, has grown a little older, but she still does not know that Suman is not her biological father.
That truth will become even clearer in this film. The central conflict revolves around the child, and it is through this crisis that the paths of the two ‘ardhanginis’ cross once again.”
