PM to visits Moulvibazar today

Moulvibazar known as a major tea-producing and tourist district, is witnessing extensive preparations ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit today.

Prime MinisterTarique Rahman is scheduled to visit the district for the first time today after being elected as the Prime Minister, Moulvibazar Correspondent reports.

Preparations are underway at the Moulvibazar Government High School playground, where the main public programme will be held after the venue was shifted from Rajnagar Degree College due to space limitations. Despite adverse weather, work on the stage, field and entrance gates is progressing rapidly.

Party leaders, activists and local administration officials are jointly working to complete arrangements, while decoration work including banners, festoons , arches continues across major city roads.

Residents have welcomed the visit, while also raising long-standing demands for improved roads, rail and air connectivity, including the opening of Shamsernagar Airport, establishment of a medical college and a public university, and construction of bypass roads in Srimangal, Moulvibazar and Kulaura.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will distribute family cards at two venues – Srimangal Victoria School playground at around 1 pm and Moulvibazar Government High School playground at around 2:30 pm. He will also address public meetings at both locations.

Later, he is expected to visit Dusai Resort in Sadar Upazila at around 3:30 pm, followed by a political meeting at about 4:45 pm.

A total of 308 beneficiaries will receive family cards under the third phase of the Family Card Pilot Project, including 152 from Rajnagar Upazila and 156 from Srimangal Upazila.

The district administration and law enforcement agencies have completed all necessary preparations for the smooth conduct of the programmes.
