BNP-led government is committed to building a self-reliant, stable and industrially advanced Bangladesh where all citizens can equally benefit from prosperity and live with dignity, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Saturday.
He said the government is prepared to take necessary measures to create new opportunities, adding that promoting economic fairness, ensuring justice, and curbing the influence of oligarchic groups are among its major priorities.
Mirza Fakhrul, who also serves as BNP Secretary General, made the remarks while addressing a conference titled “Trade, Economic Growth and Economic Diplomacy Action Plan”, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) at a hotel in the capital.
“I am not here today as a panel discussant; rather, I am here to present the government’s commitment and pledge towards achieving our core objectives,” He said.
He added, “The theme of this session is addressing risks, leveraging resilience and moving forward with renewed momentum and proper direction. I believe it reflects our mindset for building the future.”
Mirza Fakhrul said this clearly demonstrates that the government is prepared to do whatever is necessary to create new opportunities.
He further said, “The present government has been in office for just over 100 days. However, our goals and aspirations are very strong. We want to transform Bangladesh into a self-reliant, stable and industrially developed country where every citizen enjoys the rightful benefits of prosperity and dignity.”
Earlier in the morning, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid tribute at the mausoleum of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia along with members of the newly formed committee of Jubo Dal.
Speaking to journalists there, he said, “Ensuring equity and justice in the economy and dismantling oligarchs are the goals of the government.”
He also expressed hope that Jubo Dal would play an important role in implementing the vision of Tarique Rahman.
The minister said the government wants to move the country forward by entrusting responsibilities to the younger generation.
