Bangladesh embassy mourns Thai Princess’ death
The Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, extending condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Thailand.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the Embassy said it was “deeply saddened” by the passing of Her Royal Highness the Princess and conveyed its “deepest condolences” during what it described as a period of national mourning.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the eldest child of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and a lawyer by profession, died on Thursday evening at the age of 47, according to the Bureau of the Royal Household.
She had been receiving treatment at a Bangkok hospital after losing consciousness due to illness three years ago, the Royal Household statement issued on Friday said.
Reacting to her death, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul described the loss as deeply painful for the nation, saying it was “not merely bad news” but “an immeasurable grief in the hearts of the entire nation.”
He also paid tribute to the princess as “a pride of Thailand,” noting that her efforts toward “building a society of kindness, justice, and equality” would remain a lasting moral legacy and a guiding inspiration for future generations.
